Winter in Byron Bay is as beautiful as the summer, sans the crowds. We check in with Erin Maxwell, who shares a few snaps from her time up north with her gorgeous family.

Photography and words by Erin Maxwell.

“As European summer images sweep across our screens, we long for holidays with unplanned days and beautiful backdrops. Instead of Italy, this year we took the opportunity of a spontaneous trip to one of Australia’s most iconic locations, Byron Bay.”

“Nick and I married in the Byron Hinterland almost nine years ago, so it is a special place for us and our family. We try to make it here at least once a year to keep traditions going and share this beautiful place with our babies.”

“Winter in Byron is my favourite time to visit. Sun-drenched afternoons, beach visits and our city life left behind.”

“We spend lazy mornings in our Cottage brunching and spending time with each other. Then trips to The Farm and long walks around the seasonally quiet and simple streets.”
“We did a day trip to the photogenic and fabulous Halcyon House in Cabarita Beach and then stepped away to the quiet and stunning town of Bangalow."

“This was a holiday spent rejuvenating with simple pleasures and spending uninterrupted time with our family. Europe can wait.”
